Turkish Aher are considered one of the finest quality of Aher. The process of making Aher sheets go back centuries, when the experiment was undertaking to make a paper of purest quality to write the most expensive and sought after manuscripts commissioned by the patrons.
Since then the process has continued, being handed down from one generation to another. There are a few ways to make top quality aher, the one used most widely involve the use of Starch and Egg coats, concluding with the process of burnishing.
This makes the process of writing with the qalam easier and smoother. There are a few steps used in a few cases before beginning to write on aher, watch out video on supplies(Papers), where I explain how to write on Aher Sheets.
Our Turkish Aher has 3 coats of Starch and 3 coats of Egg and are burnished twice ensuring buttery smooth surface to write on.
